Description
Peony-flowered tulips are grown for their full, luxuriant blooms that resemble, of course, peonies! They are some of the latest tulip varieties to flower, opening in late April and May. If this intrigues you, then we would highly recommend you try Tulip 'Valdivia'. It has not been available for very long, but it has already built up quite a following. Its flowers are full of zest, zing and spark! Its colours blend beautifully—from burnt-orange through to red, flushed with apricot, ginger and yellow. Look closer and you will see touches of pink and green as well. Its multicoloured and multi-layered petals are nothing short of flamboyant! What a stunner!
As well as adding a touch of exuberance to any spring bed, border or container, Tulip 'Valdivia' makes a fantastic cut flower. If you’re growing it for indoor displays, snip the blooms just before they open. Tulip 'Valdivia' is in the tulip Division 2, known as the Double Early Group.
