Collection: Brunnera bare roots

Brunnera is a genus of beautiful flowering plants in the Borage family; the most often-used common names are Siberian bugloss and False Forget-me-not. These are perennial plants, growing from underground rhizomes, and they are most at home growing at the edges of woodland, where they thrive in cool, consistently moist soil. There are many named forms available, most of which are used as groundcover in dappled shade. You can try growing Brunnera in full sun, but plants must have consistent moisture, as they fade quickly in very dry conditions.   Brunnera has attractive, usually hairy, heart-shaped leaves (often with lovely variegations), and clusters of small, blue or white, forget-me-not-like flowers. Soil-wise, Brunnera is not fussy at all. Other plants that enjoy similar conditions, and which make good partners, include Dicentra, hardy Geranium, Carex, Helleborus and hardy ferns.
