Collection: Hymenocallis bulbs (spider lily)
Hymenocallis produces large quantity of white, green or yellow flowers with six narrow recurved petals spiking outwards and backwards from shallow centre cups. It's small wonder these oddly-shaped Hymenocallis blooms have earned the title of Spider Lilies – not only do the extended petals give the impression of spidery legs, but the way the plant’s multiple flowers cover the rosettes of strap-shaped leaves also bring up images of arachnids. Plant your Hymenocallis bulbs in rich well-drained soil where they will get full sun. Hymenocallis do also prefer reasonably high humidity levels and warmer climates so keep them out of the cold – perhaps a greenhouse might be a good choice. The plants will grow to between 30 to 60cm (2 and 24 inches) tall.
