Description
Top-performing Tulip 'Akebono' is named after an award-winning Sumo wrestler, who became a legend in the sport. Reflecting this champion’s qualities of strength, vigour and excellent repeat performance, this tulip is a winner! 'Akebono' also makes a radiant display with its mouth-watering tutti-frutti colours. Double citrus-yellow blooms are etched with a delicate strawberry-red edge, and a peachy blush suffuses the petals as they mature. Attractive apple-green streaked sepals encircle this fruity delight.
Tulip 'Akebono' will make an attractive addition to the late-spring garden, its eye-catching colours mixing well with other vibrant tones. Its Sumo-like strength is partly thanks to its Darwin Hybrid breeding. This group of tulips are renowned for their excellent garden performance, often returning to flower year-on-year in ideal growing conditions. Standing at around 45cm tall, Tulip 'Akebono' are also fuss-free and vigorous, making excellent subjects for both border plantings and pot displays.
