Description
Set yourself up for a long summer of colour with this incredible Tradescantia 'Brainstorm'. Flowering continuously for up to six months, it’s a heck of a breakthrough for a plant to be that generous with blooms, and they’re not sparse either. You can expect multiple flowers per stem for most of the season—the vibrant petals the kind of eye-popping purple colour which you’d normally only see on toffee wrappers. Long-lasting, perennial Tradescantia 'Brainstorm' is easy to care for and keeps on giving. Give it a home in partial shade and enjoy the rewards!
Although it has quite an exotic look about it, you won’t have to worry about Tradescantia 'JS® Brainstorm' over winter—this variety is hardy below -30°C. Forming a compact plant, it’s ideal for a position towards the front of a flowerbed which is in light dappled shade for most of the day, or full shade for part of the day. Forming a clump over time, once established, Tradescantia 'Brainstorm' will treat you to multiple stems which are each topped with a profusion of beautiful, long-lasting blooms.

Useful information
-
Soak the Tradescantia 'Brainstorm' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Spiderwort" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
