Description
This gorgeous Salvia nemorosa 'Pink Beauty' produces masses of flowering spikes clothed in rose-pink blooms, each with reddish-purple bracts. These blooms are at their best from mid-summer to mid-autumn, and are carried high above the clumps of aromatic, mid-green leaves. Known as the Balkan clary, this Salvia is a hardy member of the sage family. The habit of Salvia 'Pink Beauty' makes it an excellent plant for blending with other perennials!
Plant it towards the front of a sunny border in a free-draining soil, or create drifts through a prairie-style garden, where pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies will flock to the flowers.

Soak the Salvia 'Pink Beauty' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Balkan clary" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
