Description
Phlox 'Olympus' is a truly pretty perennial for the herbaceous or mixed border! A beautiful clump-former, it firstly offers variegated, cream and dark green leaves. Then, its upright stems are topped with large clusters of almost luminous purple-pink flowers in summer. Each individual flower has a white centre, or eye. The blooms are heavily fragrant, too, filling the air with a sweet scent. Phlox 'Olympus' will reach up to 90cm in height, and be at its absolute best between July and September. Give it a spot in full sun or part shade.
Perennial Phlox paniculata 'Olympus' are stalwarts of cottage gardens, and they make a great choice for wildlife areas too; their flowers are rich in nectar so are perfect for attracting butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Plant in open borders or in patio containers in order to admire the flower clusters up close. Finally, don't forget that this phlox will also make a gorgeous cut flower, which will fill your rooms with scent; cut when the flowers are just fully open.

Useful information
-
Soak the Phlox 'Olympus' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
