Description
Curcuma alismatifolia 'Pink' is also known as the Siam Tulip or Summer Tulip. Curcuma is known to be a tropical plant and also excellent for indoor forcing. The Curcuma plant is native to countries like Cambodia, Laos and Northern Thailand. It belongs to the wide Ginger family and is gaining more popularity among the gardening but also the spice community in the West.
Curcuma alismatifolia 'Pink' is a perennial plant and we are proud at Farmer Gracy to provide an excellent source of top size Curcuma Rhizomes cultivated and imported all the way from India. The Curcuma plant grows on tall, upright and strong stems with pink blossoms appearing early summer until the fall.
Siam Tulip care tips
For outside planting, Curcuma Rhizomes prefer a well-drained soil and for indoor planting make sure your container should contain drainage holes. Some pebbles or little rocks in the bottom of the container can help and improve the drainage. Keep the soil moist but do not overwater. The best place would be to plant and store the Curcuma plant in a partial shaded area and not too much exposure to direct sunlight, as the Curcuma foliage does not like too much strong sunlight. The Curcuma Rhizomes can be taken out and be divided into several 5 cm smaller Rhizomes. This way you will keep the Curcuma plant or Siam Tulip in good shape for the coming years. Protect your Curcuma bulbs from frost as it is not a fully hardy plant.
Gracy knows
"In the yard, Curcuma rhizomes are perfect to be planted between your Spring bulbs like tulips and narcissi as the Siam Tulip will emerge after your Spring bulbs go dormant!
