Description
Clematis 'Baltyk' is a true showstopper, bringing waves of lilac-purple to violet-blue charm to the garden. Its flattish flowers, reaching an impressive 15-20cm across, command attention with their rich colouring and elegant form. Whether scrambling up a trellis or weaving through shrubs, Clematis 'Baltyk' knows how to make an entrance, blooming from late spring into early autumn. The contrasting pale filaments and deep anthers add an extra layer of intrigue, ensuring this variety stands out even in a sea of climbers. Perfect for adding a touch of grandeur to cottage gardens and contemporary spaces alike, it thrives in sun to partial shade, rewarding minimal effort with maximum impact.
Despite its refined appearance, Clematis 'Baltyk' is a surprisingly robust performer. Given well-drained soil and a little support, it climbs with enthusiasm, filling vertical spaces with long-lasting colour. Train it against walls, archways, or pergolas to make the most of its generous flowering habit. Like all clematis, 'Baltyk' appreciates cool roots, so a layer of mulch or a low-growing companion plant will keep it happy. Its striking blooms pair beautifully with roses, honeysuckle, or contrasting white-flowered climbers. If you’re after a clematis that delivers both drama and dependability, Clematis 'Baltyk' certainly earns its place in the garden.
Clematis 'Baltyk' is supplied as a pip with a well-developed root system, ready to thrive in your garden. You can see an example of a pip in the last image.

Useful information
-
Soak your Clematis 'Baltyk' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Climbing leather flower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
