Amaryllis 'Bogota'

The enticing Spider group of Amaryllis has some real beauties, and Hippeastrum 'Bogota' is definitely a contender for being one of the most striking. These exotic, orchid-like flowers with their long and spidery swept-back petals and intense, jungle-like colours are truly eye-catching. Hippeastrum 'Bogota' has rich and spicey colour tones, a mix of paprika and coral, a deeply intense dark red throat, from which prominent red stamens arch out gracefully. When several of these flowers emerge and unfurl from their tall stems, you’ll have a little bit of the jungle in your life, with its glorious colours and sense of drama.  

The Spider group of Amaryllis, also known as the Cybister group, has been bred from the Hippeastrum cybister species, native to South America. These more unusual amaryllises are becoming increasingly popular among growers, and Hippeastrum 'Bogota' is a fabulous addition with its truly exotic good looks. You might be surprised to hear that it is just as easy to grow as other Amaryllis types, and is perfect for forcing indoors to bring a touch of tropical magic to cold and dull winter days.
