Description
Plant a patch or pot of Alstroemeria 'Yentl' and look forward to a fresh and breezy display of summer blooms in the most cheery, spring-like shade of primrose yellow! With a little added frill to the petals, golden-yellow blotch and speckled markings, the flowers of this compact Peruvian lily are both intriguing and opulent, their detail is best admired up close so display them in patio pots or at the front of a border. Alstroemeria have long been a popular choice for use as cut flowers, even varieties like 'Yentl' with short stems can make a big impact in a small vase. The freshest blooms are the ones you can pick in your own garden and display straight away, and a bunch of Alstroemeria 'Yentl's flowers are certain to attract some admiring glances from your guests.
You can grow Alstroemeria Colorita® 'Yentl' easily in sunny borders or patio containers. This low-maintenance variety is compact so the stems sturdy and the plant as a whole looks bushy and dense once established. This perennial prefers a free draining soil and can tolerate partial shade, but flowers more prolifically in full sun. Whilst fairly winter hardy, they will appreciate a sheltered position or some added mulch. Every year, the clump grows a little and in turn produces more flower stems each time. Alstroemeria 'Yentl' is a long-lasting plant which gives more and more every year!

Useful information
-
Soak the Alstroemeria 'Yentl' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Dwarf Peruvian lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
