Description
Hosta 'White Feather' is unlike any other. A dramatic clump-forming hardy perennial, it grows to about 35cm in height. In spring, its leaves unfurl into a mass of bright, cream-white. Then, as the season progresses, the white foliage increasingly turns green, with the colour changing first at the leaf veins, then spreading outwards. One of the undulata species of Hosta, with attractive wavy-edged leaves, the foliage of 'White Feather' is further characterised by being matt on the upper surface, and glossy on the underside. The overall effect is highly attractive, unusual, and a wonderful talking point. And, as if this is not enough, Hosta 'White Feather' produces lovely lavender-purple in mid-summer
Plantain lily 'White Feather' has a compact habit, and is perfect for growing in patio containers, or at the front of a shady herbaceous border. It will grow best in a moist soil, and will benefit from a yearly mulch of well-rotted manure, leafmould or compost.
The Hosta genus was named by Austrian botanist Leopold Trattinnick in 1812, in honour of Nicholas Thomas Host, a Croatian botanist.

Useful information
-
Soak your Hosta 'White Feather' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Plantain lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
