Description
If you’re looking for exotic plant treasure then you’ve struck it! Flaunting a flush of gold-tone, Colocasia 'Maui Gold' is brighter than other taros and it’s a real gem of a plant. The big green, luminous leaves will crank up the vibrancy in your indoor jungle or light up a shaded part of the garden. The lush, zingy lime-coloured foliage gleams with an eye-catching green glow from afar. When you’re drawn in for a closer look you can enjoy the finer details, which include pale coloured stems which ombre to purple, resulting in a near-black blotch on the top of the leaf.
Taro plants (also known as elephants ears) are tropical, so Colocasia esculenta 'Maui Gold' will require warm temperatures to sprout. In cool climates, they’re best planted into pots and started indoors in temperatures which are fairly consistently around 20°C or above. When your Colocasia 'Maui Gold' plants spouts, you can continue to enjoy the vibrant, heart-shaped leaves indoors through the season, or you can move your plant outdoors and position it in a partially shaded spot in the garden for the summer months. Try this with paired with Colocasia 'Black Magic' for contrast!
Our Colocasia bulbs are grown and cultivated in Costa Rica.
