Description
With unusual rich, brick red colouring and delicate, dark veining, Hippeastrum 'Terra Cotta Star' really stands out from other Amaryllis varieties. Throughout winter and spring, these tender bulbous houseplants put on a season-defying show with their enormous, flamboyant flowers. Guaranteed to raise a smile even on the greyest and most dismal of days!
Popular as a Christmas gift, Hippeastrum 'Terra Cotta Star' is all too often thrown away after one season by those who don’t realise how easy it is to keep going. Simply continue to water and feed until the foliage withers (usually late summer), then cut back and move into a cool place such as a garage or shed. Leave it here in a dry dormancy (i.e., forget about it) until mid to late autumn, then bring it indoors and resume watering and feeding to start back into growth. It really is that simple!
