Description
Clematis 'Kakio' is a real showstopper, flaunting large purplish-pink flowers with delicate pale pink centres and striking yellow stamens. With blooms reaching up to 16cm across, this elegant climber makes a dazzling display from late spring through early autumn. Whether it’s adorning a trellis, scrambling over a pergola, or winding through a rose bush, Clematis 'Kakio' brings a touch of charm and colour wherever it grows. Its prolific flowering habit ensures a continuous burst of vibrant blossoms, attracting admiration from both gardeners and pollinators alike.
Despite its bold appearance, Clematis 'Kakio' is wonderfully easy to care for. Thriving in sun or partial shade, it happily climbs to around 2-3 metres, making it ideal for smaller spaces or mixed planting schemes. A light prune in early spring keeps it in top form, encouraging fresh growth and abundant blooms. Perfect for brightening up walls, fences, and obelisks, Clematis 'Kakio' is a reliable and rewarding choice for any garden. With its delightful blend of rich and soft pink hues, it brings a lively yet elegant presence to any outdoor space.
Clematis 'Kakio' is supplied as a pip with a well-developed root system, ready to thrive in your garden. You can see an example of a pip in the last image.

Useful information
-
Soak your Clematis 'Kakio' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Climbing leather flower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
