Description
Allium 'Round 'n' Purple' produces extremely large blooms and is the perfect addition to the back of your border for a touch of sensational drama. When planted in groups, as with many statuesque alliums, the display is breath-taking and will certainly be taking point in your garden. Flowering on thick sturdy stems, Allium 'Round 'n' Purple's paler violet blooms, reaching a height from 90cm-1.2m, give the perfect landing pad to many varied pollinators, bees especially love them.
The dried flower heads make an architectural statement during winter and the seeds also make a useful food source for visiting birds. Allium 'Round 'n' Purple' are also great as cut flowers! This variety can be a little more tender and will benefit from a winter mulch and well-drained soil—the addition of some grit in the planting hole will ensure the bulb is not left sitting too wet. Plant in full sun for the best results and expect the round 'n' purple drama to begin around May to June!
