Description

Tulip 'Reine de Lairesse' is a fringed tulip with a decidedly refined sense of drama, producing elegant blooms in intense purple-pink to medium violet. The petals rise in a classic cup shape, then finish with finely cut, serrated edges that look almost crystalline, as though each flower has been dipped in sugar by a very precise hand. This frilled detail gives Tulip 'Reine de Lairesse' texture as well as colour, making it especially striking in late spring borders and containers. Planted in groups, Tulip 'Reine de Lairesse' creates a rich, luminous display that feels vibrant but never garish.

Grow Tulip 'Reine de Lairesse' in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny position, planting the bulbs in autumn for a polished spring performance. Its violet-pink colouring pairs beautifully with blue forget-me-nots, deep purple tulips, white narcissi and fresh green foliage, creating a scheme with depth, contrast and a little welcome sparkle. The fringed blooms are excellent for cutting, bringing their crisp edges and saturated colour indoors for arrangements with a stylish, painterly mood. Distinctive, elegant and just a touch flamboyant at the rim, Tulip 'Reine de Lairesse' is perfect for gardeners who like their tulips with poise and personality.
