Description
Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' is a compact scabious with quite remarkable flower power, bred by the Seoha Plant Breeding Institute in Korea and clearly not short on ambition. This innovative hybrid forms a naturally low, rounded plant, reaching around 15cm high and 30cm wide, yet can produce more than 50 violet-purple flowers on a single plant. The blooms sit neatly around the domed habit, giving Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' a full, cushion-like effect from spring into summer. Unlike many scabious varieties, the flowers remain pleasingly compact, making Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' especially tidy and useful in smaller spaces.
Plant Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, where its colour and compact shape can be enjoyed at the front of borders, in pots or woven through low landscape planting. Its violet-purple blooms pair beautifully with silver foliage, ornamental grasses, white daisies, salvias and soft pink perennials, creating a relaxed but polished summer display. Bee-friendly and hardy to around minus 20 degrees Celsius, it offers plenty of practical appeal alongside its neat good looks. Floriferous, fast-growing and charmingly well behaved, Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' is ideal for gardeners who like their perennials compact, colourful and very generously supplied with flowers.

Useful information
-
Soak the Scabiosa 'Blue Eyes' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Scabious" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
