Description
Lewisia 'Safira Tropic Pink' is a compact little charmer with the colour dial turned firmly towards joyful. From a low rosette of fleshy green leaves, branching stems rise in late spring and early summer, carrying pink flowers edged in white with a soft, glowing centre. The effect is fresh, sugary and sunlit, rather like a raspberry ripple served in a very elegant dish. Despite its dainty scale, Lewisia 'Safira Tropic Pink' has real presence, bringing bright detail to alpine beds, rockeries, gravel gardens and the front of sunny borders.
Give Lewisia 'Safira Tropic Pink' sharply drained soil and a sheltered, sunny position, and it will reward you with neat foliage and a cheerful flush of bloom just when the garden is gathering pace. As with many cliff maids, it is especially happy in pots, troughs or raised beds where drainage can be kept satisfyingly crisp. Try Lewisia 'Safira Tropic Pink' among stones, thyme, saxifrages or other compact alpines for a natural, mountain-garden feel. Pretty but not precious, Lewisia cotyledon 'Safira Tropic Pink' is ideal for adding polished colour to small spaces.

Useful information
-
Soak your Lewisia 'Safira Tropic Pink' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Cliff maids" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
