Description
Hosta 'Fireworks' is a dazzling little plantain lily that certainly lives up to its name. Compact yet full of flair, it forms neat, upright clumps of slightly twisted white leaves edged in deep green—each leaf a burst of contrast and texture. This variegation makes it shine in shadier spots, where the luminous centres seem to catch and reflect every stray glimmer of light. In July, tall stems rise above the foliage of Hosta 'Fireworks' to display elegant, pale lavender flowers, adding another layer of charm to this quietly dramatic perennial.
Though modest in size, Hosta 'Fireworks' appreciates a generous setting—whether in the ground or a roomy container—where it can spread its glowing foliage to full effect. Give it plenty of light but avoid harsh midday sun, and it will reward you with vigorous growth and year-after-year reliability. Its refined variegation and compact form make it ideal for brightening shady borders, courtyards, or the edges of garden paths. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, Hosta 'Fireworks' proves that even the smallest sparks can light up the garden beautifully.

Useful information
-
Soak the Hosta 'Fireworks' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Plantain lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
