Description
Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' is a neat, moonlit hellebore for the quiet months, forming a low evergreen mound to around 35cm. Its dark green leaves are traced with silver-grey veins, giving the plant a polished, pewter-sheened look even before the first buds appear. From late winter into early spring, Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' lifts single, outward-facing white flowers on short stems, each bloom centred with fresh green and a soft cluster of stamens. As the flowers age, they blush through pink and deepen towards red, so the display changes day by day, rather like winter deciding it quite enjoys colour after all.
Plant Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' where it can be seen close to the house, path or garden gate, ideally in dappled shade and humus-rich, free-draining soil. It is lovely with snowdrops, cyclamen, pulmonarias and early narcissi, the silvered foliage tying pale winter companions together with calm good manners. Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' also suits pots, woodland edges and smaller borders, where its compact habit keeps things tidy without feeling stiff. Remove tired leaves as the flowers emerge to show off the stems, then let the new foliage take over. Dependable, elegant and quietly uplifting, Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' brings a gentle glow to the season when gardens need it most.

Useful information
-
Soak the Helleborus 'Winter Moonbeam' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
