Description
Graceful, long-flowering and quietly radiant, Geum 'Tim's Tangerine' brings a wash of soft peachy-orange to the border from late spring right through to autumn. Also known as Geum 'Totally Tangerine', this RHS Award of Garden Merit recipient is prized for both its beauty and stamina. Slender, branching stems rise to around 90cm, carrying a profusion of gently nodding blooms that seem to hover above the foliage. The effect is light and airy rather than dense, allowing Geum 'Tim's Tangerine' to weave effortlessly between grasses and perennials, lending warmth without weight.
As a sterile selection, Geum 'Tim's Tangerine' will not self-seed, channelling its energy into an exceptionally long and reliable flowering season instead. It thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or light shade, where its softly glowing tones complement blues, purples and fresh greens with particular ease. Pollinators are frequent visitors, drawn to the open centres of the flowers, while gardeners appreciate its relaxed habit and resilience. Whether planted in generous drifts or dotted through a mixed scheme for cohesion, Geum 'Tim's Tangerine' (or Geum 'Totally Tangerine') proves both refined and refreshingly uncomplicated.
The name avens derives from the Latin avenio, meaning "to charm or delight", reflecting its long-held ornamental appeal.

Useful information
-
Soak the Geum 'Tim's Tangerine' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Avens" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
