Plant from mid to late autumn. Unpack carefully, as the fleshy roots are brittle, then soak them in water for two to three hours before planting.
Eremurus 'Obelisk' is a plant that understands the value of a dramatic entrance. From a basal rosette of foliage emerge towering flower spikes that can reach up to 1.5 metres in height, rising with remarkable elegance above surrounding planting. The densely packed blooms are pure white with a subtle wash of pale green on the outer petals, creating a fresh, luminous effect that glows beautifully in early summer light. Each flower spike can exceed 60cm in length, forming a slender column that draws the eye skywards and lends instant architectural presence to the garden. Despite its imposing stature, Eremurus × isabellinus 'Obelisk' has a refined quality, bringing height and structure without appearing heavy or overbearing.
Perfect for sunny borders and prairie-style planting schemes, Eremurus 'Obelisk' pairs effortlessly with ornamental grasses, irises and early summer perennials, where its vertical form provides a striking contrast to softer shapes. As the flowers gradually open from the base upwards, the display evolves over several weeks, adding movement and interest throughout the season. Pollinators are frequent visitors, attracted to the abundance of nectar-rich blooms. Whether planted as a focal point or repeated through a border for rhythm and balance, Eremurus 'Obelisk' never fails to create an impression. Tall, elegant and wonderfully distinctive, Eremurus × isabellinus 'Obelisk' brings a touch of grandeur to the garden, proving that sometimes the most memorable plants are those that simply stand a little taller than the rest.

Choose a sunny, sheltered position with very free-draining soil. Improve heavy ground thoroughly with grit and organic matter, or plant in a raised bed.
Dig a wide hole around 15–20cm deep. Create a central mound of gritty soil, then carefully spread the roots out and angle them downwards.
Position the crown just below the soil surface, with any shoots facing upwards. Cover gently and space plants 30–60cm apart, depending on their eventual size.
Water once to settle the soil, then avoid unnecessary winter watering. Protect early shoots from hard frost with horticultural fleece, removing it when conditions improve.
