Description
Dahlia 'Ozzy' is unapologetically dramatic, producing sumptuous, fully double blooms in tones of black cherry, claret and deep crimson wine. Each flower is densely packed with velvety petals, arranged in a near-perfect sphere around a shadowy centre that adds to its brooding allure. In the border, Dahlia 'Ozzy' delivers instant depth and richness, particularly effective when woven through softer planting or pale, airy companions. The blooms seem to absorb the light, revealing subtle shifts of red and plum as the day moves on. It is a variety with real presence, confident without being brash, and utterly compelling when seen up close.
Beyond the flowers, Dahlia 'Ozzy' impresses with its handsome dark stems and dusky, bronze-tinged foliage, which provide a perfect foil for the intense colouring of the blooms. The plants grow upright and sturdy, with strong, well-coloured stems that make Dahlia 'Ozzy' an excellent cut flower, adding mood and structure to arrangements. In a vase, the dark foliage and stems lend a refined, almost theatrical quality, pairing beautifully with blush tones, apricot shades and smoky leaves. Give Dahlia 'Ozzy' a sunny position and fertile, well-drained soil, and it will reward you generously from midsummer until the first frosts. Regular cutting only encourages more flowers, ensuring this richly coloured variety remains at its best for as long as the season allows.
