Description
Anemone 'Robinsoniana' is one of those quietly enchanting spring plants that proves subtle colour can be far more intriguing than full-volume display. This RHS Award-winning wood anemone forms a low, rhizomatous carpet of deeply divided green leaves, reaching around 20cm in height and settling beautifully into woodland-style planting. In spring, Anemone nemorosa 'Robinsoniana' produces solitary lavender-blue flowers, each 3 to 4cm wide, with a soft greyish-cream reverse that gives the blooms a wonderfully nuanced, almost hand-painted quality. It is delicate to look at, certainly, but not in the least bit precious.
Perfect beneath deciduous trees and shrubs, or woven through a lightly shaded border, Anemone 'Robinsoniana' enjoys humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil and a spot where spring light can reach the ground before the canopy thickens. Its refined colouring pairs beautifully with hellebores, erythroniums and early bulbs, bringing a cool, painterly note to the garden just as the season begins to gather pace. Once established, Anemone 'Robinsoniana' will spread gently by rhizomes, creating naturalistic drifts with little need for intervention. Elegant, reliable and just a little poetic, Anemone nemorosa 'Robinsoniana' is a woodland classic with enduring charm.

Useful information
-
Soak your Anemone 'Robinsoniana' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Wood anemone" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
