Description
Anemone 'Bracteata Pleniflora' is a delightfully unconventional double-flowered wood anemone, bringing a crisp white and green freshness to shaded spring planting. This dwarf, rhizomatous perennial forms a low carpet of dark green, palmate leaves, each divided into three neat lobes, creating a cool woodland backdrop for its wonderfully detailed, double flowers. From March to May, Anemone 'Bracteata Pleniflora' produces distinctive double blooms with white petals touched in green at the tips, all gathered within a collar of green bracts. The effect is intricate, almost ruffled, and just unusual enough to make gardeners lean in for a closer look.
Reaching around 10-15cm in height, Anemone 'Bracteata Pleniflora' is perfect for the front of shady borders, beneath deciduous shrubs or naturalised through woodland-style planting. It appreciates humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil and partial to full shade, where it can spread gently by rhizomes into quietly characterful colonies. After flowering, Anemone 'Bracteata Pleniflora' slips into summer dormancy, returning again from late autumn with very little fuss. Fully hardy and pleasingly refined, Anemone nemorosa 'Bracteata Pleniflora' pairs beautifully with hellebores, ferns and early bulbs, offering a spring display that feels fresh, rare and rather clever.

Soak the Anemone 'Bracteata Pleniflora' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Double wood anemone" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
