Description
Anemone 'Blue Eyes' is a small treasure for the spring garden, bringing a cool, woodland delicacy just when the season is beginning to stir. This dwarf, rhizomatous wood anemone forms a low carpet of dark green, palmate leaves, each divided into three neat lobes, creating a fresh setting for its charming flowers. From March to May, Anemone 'Blue Eyes' produces crisp white blooms with a distinctive purple-blue centre, a detail that gives each flower a bright, watchful character. The effect is subtle rather than showy, but all the more captivating for it, like finding porcelain hidden among moss and leaf litter.
Perfect for naturalising beneath deciduous shrubs and trees, Anemone nemorosa 'Blue Eyes' thrives where spring light reaches the soil before summer shade settles in. Plant Anemone 'Blue Eyes' in generous groups for a soft, natural drift, or tuck it into the front of a lightly shaded border where its intricate flowers can be admired up close. After flowering, it slips quietly into dormancy until late autumn, which is rather civilised of it, leaving space for later companions to take their turn. Elegant, modest and quietly distinctive, Anemone 'Blue Eyes' is a lovely choice for gardeners who appreciate plants with seasonal rhythm and a touch of woodland magic.
