Choose a sturdy pot with drainage holes, allowing around 3cm between the bulb and the pot’s edge.
'Sweet Amadeus'
syn. Hippeastrum 'Sweet Amadeus'
Amaryllis 'Sweet Amadeus' is an indoor bulb with a gentle, peach-lit elegance, producing large double flowers in soft apricot, salmon and creamy tones. The layered petals open into full, starry blooms, each one finely veined with warm coral-pink and softened by fresh green shading at the throat. There is a lovely delicacy to Amaryllis 'Sweet Amadeus', despite the generous size of its flowers, giving it a graceful rather than showy presence. Held on strong, upright stems above glossy strap-shaped foliage, Hippeastrum 'Sweet Amadeus' brings warmth and refinement to winter rooms, bright windowsills and seasonal displays.
Plant Amaryllis 'Sweet Amadeus' in a well-drained pot, leaving the upper part of the bulb visible, and place it somewhere warm and bright. Water sparingly at first, then more regularly once the flower stems begin to grow, always avoiding waterlogged compost. Its soft peach colouring looks especially beautiful in simple ceramic containers, where the fine veining and green centres can be properly admired. Long-lasting and pleasingly easy to grow, Amaryllis 'Sweet Amadeus' makes a thoughtful gift or a quietly luxurious focal point indoors. Warm, romantic and beautifully detailed, Hippeastrum 'Sweet Amadeus' is winter flowering with a particularly charming sense of poise.

Use peat-free multipurpose compost and position the bulb with its pointed end upwards. Leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the compost.
Place the pot indoors in a warm, bright position away from direct heat. Turn it regularly as the stem grows to keep it straight.
Water lightly after planting, then sparingly until growth appears. Increase watering as the plant develops, keeping the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, but retain the flower stalk until it yellows. Continue watering and feeding while the leaves remain green to replenish the bulb.
