Description
Grow something a little different this year! Ixia 'Eos' is not commonly seen and we’re sure these unusual blooms will make your day when they emerge in early summer. Producing clusters comprising several apricot-tinged flowers per stem, they’re remarkably showy. This is a warm, comforting hue which brings contrast to your planting scheme but without causing a clash or being too jarring. This gives Ixia 'Eos' the ability to blend nicely with pastel colours as well as vibrant or hot-colour planting schemes.
For autumn planting bulbs, Ixia paniculata 'Eos' blooms fairly late in the season – typically from around June. Grassy foliage and wiry upright stems make these well-suited to borders with ornamental grasses and other perennials. Also plant among alliums—the later flowering types like Allium sphearocephalon, Allium 'Forelock' and Allium 'Red Mohican' will complement them perfectly with their rich purple and burgundy colours. Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot with free-draining soil—it’s worth adding some extra mulch over winter to help protect the bulbs from very cold snaps.
